Material screening analysis

Pin-on-Plate Wear Testing
This multi-axial motion pin-on-plate reciprocator can be used for material screening and ranking purposes, as well as generation of wear debris. This wear machine has six stations.

Wear of the pin and/or plate is produced by linear forward and reverse motion combined with rotation of the pin.

Typical test involves 3 experimental and 3 control pin and/or counterface samples.

Polyethylene, polyurethane, metal, & ceramic materials
Motion: Unidirectional or Multi-directional
Cycle rate : 1 Hz
Stroke from 10 - 30 mm
Lubricant : 25% bovine serum, 0.03% Sodium Azide
Loads upto 200 N

Typical test duration: 3 weeks, 1 million cycles (polytheylene on metal)

Gravimetric measurements to determine wear volumes
