A key feature of the Institute is our multidisciplinary work with hospitals and other departments in the University and our collaborative work with industry, charities and other academic institutions around the world. The Institute is supported by a current external income stream of over £8 million, funded from a combination of research councils, charities and industry.
The Institute is a University of Leeds cross faculty institute, hosted by two faculties:
In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) the Faculty of Engineering ranks 7th in the UK with 75% of activity rated as internationally excellent or World leading and the Faculty of Biological Sciences is the largest research unit in the top 10 in their unit of assessment.
