Postgraduate study

Our international reputation for research makes this an ideal place to pursue a research degree, whether as preparation for a research career in industry or as the start of an academic career.

We have a range of opportunities for potential PhD students including a number of funded studentships including through our Centre for Doctoral Training in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine - Innovation in Medical and Biological Engineering.

We have 6 industry sponsored projects available for September 2017 start, links to all these projects are below:

Finite element analysis of total ankle replacement (Not CDT TERM Linked, application process is described in the project link page)

Projects specifically linked to the CDT TERM programme are:

Developing capacity for assessment of early interventions in the hip

Reverse engineering impingement in total hip replacements

Advanced coatings for biomedical applications

Enhanced pre-clinical experimental simulation of the natural knee

Pre-clinical assessment of kinematic and wear performance of total knee replacements though a combined computational and experimental approach

The application deadline for all industry sponsored projects is:

30 June 2017 and further details can be found on the application process for those linked to the CDT TERM programme by clicking here.

The School of Mechanical Engineering also offers a Medical Engineering MSc.

The Faculty of Engineering has a Graduate School Office that provides information and support to current and prospective students and can advise you on our admissions process.
