Multi challenges of modelling fibrous tissues, multi -disciplinary, -scale, -physics
In April 2017, the institute hosted two researchers interested in fibrous tissues modelling, Dr Cédric Laurent (University of Lorraine, France) and Dr Tom Shearer (University of Manchester).
With a common interest in the computational aspects of soft fibrous tissues and in just over 24 hours of intensive work, they produced with Alison Jones and Marlène Mengoni a common vision on a modelling framework for fibrous tissues, used for developing computational models of natural tissues or in the development of tissue engineering solutions.
This exercise resulted in a 1-hour quadruple-act seminar, about the multi challenges of modelling fibrous tissues, multi -disciplinary, -scale, -physics … Examples of mathematical, computational, and experimental research on the knee and the spine were treated in details, at the joint, tissue and cell levels.
